There is something truly special about Peonies in late spring; their ruffled, cloud-like petals unfurl slowly, revealing layer upon layer of softness and volume, bringing a sense of romance and quiet luxury that feels almost unrivalled.

Spring is a beautiful season for a wedding, offering an abundance of fresh, in-season flowers to choose from. It’s particularly exciting after the lack of flowers through winter, with the exception of imported flowers and British Hellebores through the colder months.
From March onwards we leave this behind and welcome bulbs and blossom bursting into colour. With so many gorgeous options available, it’s the perfect time to create floral designs that truly reflect the magic of the season. In this guide, I’ll share the best seasonal flowers for your spring wedding and explain why they’re not only stunning, but also a smart and practical choice for bouquets to centrepieces and ceremony arches.
Spring Bridal Bouquet
If you are getting married in spring, your bridal bouquet will likely be full of dainty, textured, scented seasonal flowers. Spring is the key time for bulbs, think Tulips, Ranunculus, Iris, Hyacinth, Narcissi and these flowers tend to be more on the smaller headed, daintier size compared to the larger more blousy Roses and Peonies. Embrace this difference and the fact that your bouquets will be more intricate and delicate, yet still completely natural and flower filled.
This particular bouquet is brimming with ruffled Ranunculus, their layers of petals reminiscent of a ballerina’s tutu. Butterfly Ranunculus float lightly above, adding an airy elegance, while Scabious brings gentle movement. Sweet Peas weave throughout - delicate, feminine and beautifully scented. For this stunning spring bridal bouquet, I chose Lilac (Syringa) in a deep, moody shade to create a strong, structured base. This was paired with two varieties of Fritillaria - one bold and architectural, the other daintier and more delicate - offering beautiful balance and contrast.
Double Tulips were gently reflexed to encourage them to open gracefully, revealing their full splendour. In soft golden tones, they weave light and warmth throughout the bouquet, naturally drawing the eye and adding luminous interest.
Soft pink Hellebores and ruffled Ranunculus bring romance and movement, their petals unfurling layer upon layer in the most exquisite way. The Fritillaria, with their elegantly bending stems, add a whimsical, almost untamed quality - they have a wonderful habit of doing exactly as they please.
The palette is rich and indulgent: deep plum tones accented with golden notes and lighter Garden Roses for softness and lift sit alongside sculptural Zantedeschia, while delicate blackberry-toned Scabious appear to float effortlessly throughout.
The result is a bouquet that feels abundant, textural, and utterly irresistible - almost good enough to eat.

I love layering bud vases along banqueting tables, interspersed with glowing votives and elegant candlesticks topped with taper candles. This mix of heights and soft candlelight brings movement, warmth, and a wonderful interplay of colour across the tablescape.
These bud vases featured beautifully scented Narcissus, ruffled Ranunculus, charming potted Violas, architectural dainty headed ivory Alliums, delicate Clematis and graceful Tulips — each stem thoughtfully placed to feel natural yet abundant.
